With my coffee cup in hand, I will tell you this:

Home sweet home

It has been a wild start to the new year already.

January 5, my parents left for Mazatlan, Mexico and my grandma came to my house to stay with me. Now, for the past few years, my parents travel somewhere at the beginning of every year. When they leave the house, my grandma and I have come to expect less than lovely weather. One year, we had that big ice storm (yeah I know you remember what I am talking about, my parents don’t because they were in California) and another year, we had tornadoes! Well this year, the weather did not disappoint. We had extremely cold weather (I’m talkin’ the coldest days Springfield hasn’t seen for two decades) and lots of snow. I guess you could conclude now that my grandma and I are pretty tough gals when it comes to toughing out the wicked weather of the Ozarks.

I can’t complain a whole lot because January 12, I went with my mom’s golf team to join my parents in Mexico for a week. It is definitely up there on my list of favorite vacations. It was absolutely beautiful and extremely relaxing! You can’t really complain about 85 degree weather and sleeping in a house right next to the ocean, especially when back home there is still snow on the ground. I played a lot of golf, filled up on nothing but fresh food, and enjoyed spending hardly a thing (prices where definitely cheap). It was a fabulous week long trip, and after a few plane rides and a two hour car ride, I was home again.

The girls and I prepared ourselves for bitterly cold weather, much like what we left behind. We were in no way excited about the transition from warm, moist air to frigid, dry air. Lucky for us, it is a balmy 60 degrees in Springfield, not a complete culture shock. Ok, it may feel a little chilly to me, but my friends are enjoying the “warm” weather.

before I end another useless blog (because Coach makes us), I ask for you bored readers at home or in class, pray for my mother. She is in Houston right now having surgery to get her cancer removed. She will pull through, just a few extra hands her way won’t hurt. Also pray for Coach’s wife, she too is battling something at this time. Thank you!

Until next time, this is no sunny beach in Mexico, but it will do.
